Description	:	Mrs. May Ellen Kness was born March 27, 1856, in Whitside county, Illinois and passed away at her home in Fairmont at 9 o'clock Thursday morning, August 3, 1939, aged 83 years, 4 months and 11 days. Mrs. Kness had been in ill health several months, and her last illness, of two or three weeks, was due to the infirmities of old age. She was united in marriage with Henry Kness April 15, 1875, and they continued to reside in Illinois until 1882, when they removed to Audobon county, Iowa, coming to Nebraska in 1893. They stopped... Read More	Mrs. May Ellen Kness was born March 27, 1856, in Whitside county, Illinois and passed away at her home in Fairmont at 9 o'clock Thursday morning, August 3, 1939, aged 83 years, 4 months and 11 days. Mrs. Kness had been in ill health several months, and her last illness, of two or three weeks, was due to the infirmities of old age. She was united in marriage with Henry Kness April 15, 1875, and they continued to reside in Illinois until 1882, when they removed to Audobon county, Iowa, coming to Nebraska in 1893. They stopped first in York county and located in Fillmore county in 1899, on his farm about five miles northeast of Fairmont. They moved to Fairmont in 1913, where the husband died October 18, 1929. Three children survive this union, Mrs. Delila Ann Lawrence of Los Angeles, Calif.; Mrs. Bessie Maude Peters of Fairmont; and William Henry Kness of Morris, Minn. Also remaining to mourn her passing are one sister, Mrs. Joe Plock of Mount Carroll, Ill.; one half-sister, Mrs. Alice Kepford of Arion, Iowa; six grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; together with an extensive circle of friends. Relatives who came from other states to attend the funeral rites were the daughter, Mrs. Lawrence and sister, Mrs. Plock. Funeral services were held at 2:30 o'clock p.m., Sunday, August 6, from the Fairmont Federated church, with the pastor, Rev. Isaac Cassel officiating. A quartet composed of Mrs. Mamie Kemp, Mrs. Mary Goodrich, W.E. Black and Wayne Malsbary sang, with Miss Marjorie Starks at the organ. Interment was made in the family plot in the Fairmont cemetery. Ross Dorrance, George White, J.H. Usher, C.D. Brdgman, John Armstrong and Wes Bair served as pallbearers.
