Married Elijah Funkhouser 22 Dec. 1858 in Lancaster, (Schuyler), Missouri From Life in the Gay 90's by Clarence Robinson, p. 182: Aunt Mary Ellen, as she was known to the ranch children in the nineties (1890's). It has been related in Chapter Three how she refused to put her belongings into the covered wagon with the rest, declaring that she was staying in Missouri to marry her best young man and that was all there was to it. Neither Father Foster's (David Campbell Foster) commands or her mother's pleadings, nor even the tear-filled eyes of her sister Rebecca, had the slightest effect. She was not going to California and lose a husband. Thirty five years later Mary Ellen and he family, followed the pioneers to the West, had come to live near the Beatie and Hawes ranches. So it was natural enough that George (George Philip Funkhouser), the personable young son, should meet and eventually become interested in Georgia, Grandpa Beatie's adopted daughter."
