On July 29, 1866 she was married in Indiana, to Henry H. Saunders, one of the honored Civil War young men. Read More	Grand Island Independent, Tuesday, July 12, 1921, pg 5 Obituary Mary Ellin Welch was born in Dayton, Ohio, March 7, 1847, and departed this life July 8, 1921, at the age of seventy-four years, four months and one day. On July 29, 1866 she was married in Indiana, to Henry H. Saunders, one of the honored Civil War young men. Soon after their marriage, they came to Seward County, Nebr., where they made their home through out a happy married life, until his demise on February 9th, 1905. Five children were born to this union, one of whom, a daughter Sarah, who had reached young woman hood preceded her parents in death, on April 14, 1898. Those who remain are two sons and two daughters, Louis Wm. Of Seward, Nebr., John F. and Jesse Saunders, and Mrs. A. A. Anderson of Grand Island, Nebr. Besides these there are four grand-children, and five great grand-children. A host of friends hold her in loving remembrance, for to know her was to love her. She was ever a kind and helpful neighbor, a tender loving mother, and an earnest, faithful Christian to the end of her earthly days. A brief funeral service will be held, in charge of Rev. Smith of the Presbyterian church, Sunday morning at nine oclock, from the residence of Dr. A. A. Anderson, 518 W. 3rd St., where the deceased has made her home since the departure of her helpmate, some sixteen years ago. The funeral party will then go by auto to Seward, Nebr., where the regular services will be held at one thirty, Sunday afternoon, from the United Brethren church. Interment will be made in the Seward cemetery. The funeral of Mrs. Mary E. Welch was held Sunday morning at 9 oclock from the residence of her daughter, Mrs. A. A. Anderson, 518 West Third street, Rev. A. A. Smith officiating. Following the services the remains were taken overland to Seward, Neb., where burial took place.
