Description	:	MRS. EMILY HALBASCH Mary Emily Westrope-Halbasch wife of Fred Halbasch, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Madison Smith was born April 20, 1869 at Grant, Iowa. On February 16, 1885, she was united in marriage with Thomas Richard Westrope. Seven children were born to this union, four of whom are living, namely, Mary Emily Westrope and Mrs. Allen R. Bradley, both of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Fred S. Westrope of Lincoln, Nebraska, and Harry M. Westrope of Minneapolis. She lived near Grant the great portion of her early life, later moving to Nebraska. EMILY HALBASCH Mary Emily Westrope-Halbasch wife of Fred Halbasch, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Madison Smith was born April 20, 1869 at Grant, Iowa. On February 16, 1885, she was united in marriage with Thomas Richard Westrope. Seven children were born to this union, four of whom are living, namely, Mary Emily Westrope and Mrs. Allen R. Bradley, both of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Fred S. Westrope of Lincoln, Nebraska, and Harry M. Westrope of Minneapolis. She lived near Grant the great portion of her early life, later moving to Nebraska. On January 12, 1925, she was married to Fredrick Halbasch, of Syracuse, Nebraska, and later moved to Lincoln, Nebraska, and lived in or near Lincoln since that time until July of this year when she was taken to Rochester, Minnesota and later to Minneapolis for medical aid. She remained with her son, Harry M. Westrope until she passed away on the morning of August 17, 1931, of a serious complication of diseases. She was a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church in her early childhood, but later removed her letter to the Congregational Church of Aurora, Nebraska, where her membership still remains. She leaves, besides her husband and four children, a granddaughter, Mrs. Truman Waugh and a great-granddaughter, Gloria Ruth Waugh, a sister, Mrs. Arthur Reed of Portland, Oregon, and a brother, A. D. Smith of Denver, Colorado. Funeral services were held Thursday at 4 p.m. at Grant in the M. E. Church, conducted by Rev. A. Breeling. Those from a distance who attended the funeral were; Mr. and Mrs. Jack Westrope, Mr. and Mrs. Will Kilpatrick, and Rob Kilpatrick of Harlan, Mrs. Russell Beals and Mrs. Smith, Lincoln, Nebraska, Mr. and Mrs. John Miller, and daughter Fay, Atlantic, Fred and Sadie Shaw, Corning. The pall bearers were Wm. Blackburn, O. S. Donoho, W. R. Corbin, L. D. Foote, H. F. Porter, A. C. Stinemates, and G. S. Embree. Villisca Review, Villisca, Iowa, Friday, August 28, 1931, page 5 DIES AT MINNEAPOLIS Mr. Mary Halbasch, wife of Mr. Fred Halbasch of Nehawa, and where Mr. Halbasch was formerly located, coming here some two years ago and again some two months since and went to Kansas City and Lincoln, where she consulted eminent physicians as to her illness and later went to the Mayo hospital at Rochester, Minnesota, where she underwent an operation only to go to the home of her son in Minneapolis where she passed away on last Sunday evening.
