Description	:	LITTLETON- Mrs. Mary E. Yapp, a member of the local school committee, and one of the section's leading orchardists, died yesterday at the Groton hospital. She was 62. Born in Yonkers, NY, on Aug. 12, 1886, she resided here for the past 48 years, and following the death of her husband, Charles H. Yapp, on July 31, 1931, had supervised the care of the family's extensive orchard on Newton road. her husband was a road commissioner here. Yapp, a member of the local school committee, and one of the section's leading orchardists, died yesterday at the Groton hospital. She was 62. Born in Yonkers, NY, on Aug. 12, 1886, she resided here for the past 48 years, and following the death of her husband, Charles H. Yapp, on July 31, 1931, had supervised the care of the family's extensive orchard on Newton road. her husband was a road commissioner here. She was the daughter of the late Charles F. and Martha (Field) Atkins. One of the town's most popular and best liked women, Mrs. Yapp was active in numerous organizations, in addition to carrying on her orchard and school committee duties. She belonged to the Ida McKinley chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, Ayer; Littleton Grange 420, North Middlesex Pomona Grange, 16, Littleton American Legion auziliary, Littleton Women's club, Littleton branch General Alliance, the "Forget Not" circle of the King's Daughters of Littleton, the Massachusetts Republican Women's club, chairman of the town committee of the Middlesex County Extension service, and organizer of the Littleton P.T.A. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Grafton F. Hemenway of Groton and Mrs. Thomas S. Lawrence of Groton; four sons, Clifford E. Yapp of Dracut, George A., Charles H. and Harold L. Yapp, all residing in this community. Also two sisters, Mrs. Louis Kockler of Riverside, Calif., and Mrs. Martha Humphriess of Westerly, RI; 16 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
