Description	:	Christiansen Rites Held December 30 Mrs. John (Mary E.) Christiansen, 61 died Wednesday, Dec. 27 at her home in St. Lawrence. Mary Christiansen was born at Lyons, NE September 30, 1917, the daughter of Oliver and Anne Johnson. In 1925, she moved with her parents to South Dakota, settling in Hand County. She attended Miller public school, graduating from there in 1936. In 1941, she was married to John Christiansen. They farmed in Hand County until moving to St. Lawrence in 1970. She was employed as school lunch cook at St.... Read More	Christiansen Rites Held December 30 Mrs. John (Mary E.) Christiansen, 61 died Wednesday, Dec. 27 at her home in St. Lawrence. Mary Christiansen was born at Lyons, NE September 30, 1917, the daughter of Oliver and Anne Johnson. In 1925, she moved with her parents to South Dakota, settling in Hand County. She attended Miller public school, graduating from there in 1936. In 1941, she was married to John Christiansen. They farmed in Hand County until moving to St. Lawrence in 1970. She was employed as school lunch cook at St. Lawrence public school from 1972 until January of 1978. She was a member of St. Ann's Catholic parish in Miller and belonged to St. Mary's Band of the parish altar society. She also taught CCD classes for the parish. She was an active member of the VFW Auxiliary. She is survived by her husband, John Christiansen, St. Lawrence; four sons, Tom, Hurley, Jim, Maryknoll, NY, presently studying in Bolivia, SA, Joel and Dale both of St. Lawrence; two daughters, Mrs. Ivan (Marie) Trowbridge and Ruth Christiansen, both of Huron; three grandchildren; two brothers, Victor Johnson, Boulder, CO and Leo Johnson, Valley Center, CA; four sisters, Mrs. Ray (Bessie) Gibbs, Lawrenceburg, IN, Mrs. Edward (Dorothy) Lichty, Wessington, Mrs. Eileen Renzi, Silver Spring, MD and Sister Kathleen Johnson, Miles City, MT. Funeral services were held Saturday, Dec. 30 at St. Ann's Catholic church with Father Lawrence J. Marbach officiating. Interment was in St. Ann's Cemetery. Pallbearers were Gene Stevens, Roy Yearous, Lyle Gibson, Gene Porter, William Beaner and Robert Meyers. The Miller Press, Miller, Hand, South Dakota, Thursday, January 4, 1979, p2 c1
