(Source: Harlan County, NE Marriage Records) =========================== Mary Francis (sic) Furse Swartz, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Furse, was born in Mildwood (sic), Ohio, November 29, 1869, and passed away at her home in Nelson, Nebraska, July 27, 1943, at the age of 73 years, 7 months and 28 days. She came to Nebraska with her parents in 1882, living in Campbell and Riverton until 1886, when they moved to Alma, Nebraska, where she was living at the time of her marriage to Mr. A.A. Swartz. She was united in marriage to Mr. Swartz on April 5, 1893. To this union were born four children: Lawrence, Dortha, Joe and Leta. Leta preceded her mother in death in 1918. Mr. and Mrs. Swartz made their home in Nelson until 1913. At this time they moved to Nelson, where they have made their home up to the present time. Mrs. Swartz united with the Christian Church a short time after moving to Nelson and worked in the church faithfully until her health failed her about two years ago. She leaves to mourn her passing, her husband, A.A. Swartz, the three children, Lawrence of Holbrook, Arizona, Dortha Aikin of Nelson, and Joe who is stationed at Camp Fort Warren, Wyoming: one son-in-law, Ralph Aikin, one daughter-in-law Mrs. Lawrence Swartz; one sister Mrs. Egelston, three brothers, John, Walter and Frank; also two grandchildren Raymond and Eileen Aikin, and other relatives and a host of friends. The funeral service was held on Friday morning, July 30th, at 10:30 o'clock, the resident pastor, C.M. Foust officiating. Interment was in the Nelson cemetery (sic). In Appreciation. We desire in this way to express our sincere appreciation of the many acts of kindness bestowed upon us at the time of the passing of our wife and mother. A A Swartz and family.
