On Tuesday moning at eight o'clock at the family home in Spring Creek Township occurred the death of Mrs. David Harmon, one of the best known and highly respected ladies of that loality. Mrs. Harmon had been ill for some time and her death did not come unexpected to her relatives and friends. She was one of the pioneer residents of this county and was well known by many of the older residents of the community. The deceased was born in Kentucky, September 6, 1856. When yet a young lady she moved to Jasper County, Missouri, where on March 4, 1874 she was united in marriage to David Harmon. Soon after their marriage the young couple came to Iowa and settled in Spring Creek Township of this county, where they had since continued to reside. Eleven children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Harmon. The first born, a daughter, died in infancy and ten children and the husband are left to mourn. The surviving children are as follows: Mrs. Hattie Walker, Mrs. Rose Purdy, Mrs. Laura Christian, Mrs. Eva Powers and Ira Harmon, La Porte City; Milton Harmon, Urbana; Mrs. Stella Purdy, Robbins; Mrs. Grace Winchell, Cedar Rapids; Mrs. Elsie Christian, Balsam Lake, Wisconsin; Mrs. Dollie Henry, Waterloo, Iowa. Two sisters, one half-sister, forth-one granchildren and seven great-grandchildren also survive. Funeral services were held at 2:00 o'clock this afternoon at the Pleasant Hil Methodist Church in Spring Creek Twonship, consducted by Rev. D. W. Scott. Burial was made at the Sawyer Cemetery near the church.
