Walker sometime after 1910. _______________ AUTO KILLS WOMAN Mrs. Mary Walker Fatally Injured By Machine Three Other Persons Suffer Hurts as Result of Traffic Accidents Due to Snow An aged woman was fatally injured and three other persons were hurt in traffic accidents reported to the police, largely the result of the snow and rainstorm that swept over the city yesterday and last night. The fatal accident involved Mrs. Mary Walker, a pioneer woman of Bremerton, 59 years old, who was struck by an automobile driven by Gilbert B. Butterworth, Jr., member of a pioneer Seattle family. Mrs. Walker was injured at 5:30 o'clock on Westlake Avenue, between Seventh and Eighth Avenues. She was removed to the City Hospital, where she died at midnight. Her husband was notified and made the run from Bremerton to Seattle in a launch. Mrs. Walker had come to Seattle yesterday afternoon to visit Mrs. Laura Coykendall, 922 Lenora St., and to have a pair of glasses fitted. She was on the way to the optician when the accident occurred, in company with Mrs. Heeley. Her husband, A.H. Walker, is employed in the general storehouse at the navy yard, and has been a resident of the Bremerton district for the last 17 years. Mrs. Walker had herself been a resident nearly as long. Their home is in North Charleston, a suburb. ______________________________________________________________________ INQUEST WILL BE HELD A coroner's inquest into the death of Mrs. Mary Walker, who died Tuesday night of injuries received when struck by an automobile at Seventh and Westlake Avenues as few hours previously, will be held at the county morgue at 9:30 o'clock tomorrow morning. Gilbert B. Butterworth, son of G.M. Butterworth, 1921 First Avenue, was driver of the machine that struck her. Mrs. Walker's funeral will be held at Bremerton at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon. She was fifty-three years old. Her husband, A.W. Walker, Bremerton, and a son, Frank Hicks, Nrth Charleston, survive her. (note: Mary's age and husband's initials are incorrect in this article) ___________________________________________________________ BUTTERWORTH IS EXONERATED OF BLAME BY JURY An unavoidable accident was the verdict returned by a coroner's jury in Seattle on the death of Mrs. A.H. Walker, of Bremerton, who was struck last Tuesday evening by an auto driven by Gilbert Butterworth, Jr., of Seattle. Butterworth was completely exonerated of blame for the accident. Mrs. Walker was a well known resident of Bremerton. She died within a few hours after the accident.
