July 27, 1916 - Carroll Times - Mrs. Joseph Trecker passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Chester Babcock, living near Templeton, Thursday morning, July 20, after suffering for the past ten months with cancer. Since the death of her husband, which occured late in May, she had been spending most of her time on the old homestead, where her daughter now lives. Her death was very unexpected in a way, for it was thought that she would be spared to her children for several months yet. She was born in Peru, Illinois, April 3, 1862 and her marriage to Joseph Trecker took place September 30, 1878. Fifteen years ago they left Illinois and settled in Iowa on their farm near Templeton and three years ago they moved to Carroll, where they have a large substanial home in the Fourth ward. To them were born fourteen children, ten of whom are still living. They are: Mrs. Joe Macke, Dedham; Mrs. Mike Dozler, Bayard; Theodore and William Trecker, Templeton; Mrs. Chester Babcock, Mrs. F.J. Halbig; Mrs. Alvin Morman, Carroll; Fred, Joseph and Miss Leona at home. The funeral was held from SS. Peter and Paul's church Saturday morning and was largely attended by the relatives and friends of this estimable woman. Those who attended from out of town were: Mrs. Mary Horback, Emmington, Illinois; Mrs Tony Legner, Odell, Iowa; Mrs. Chas. Miller, Lostant, Iowa; Mrs. William Rath, St. Paul, Minnesota; Mrs. Theodore Trecker, Milwaukee; Conrad Mashing, Emmington, Illinois; Mrs. Theo. Trecker, Odell, Iowa; and Mr. and Mrs. F. Meislander, Atlantic.
