Hale, 67 years old passed away at 4 o'clock Sunday morning at the family residence in Shelbina, following a two weeks illness of pneumonia. Mary J. Baker was born in Kentucky Nov. 20, 1848, and at the age of 4 years removed to Missouri with her parents, who later located in Shelby county. In 1860 she was married to the Rev. L. S. Hale and they made their home on a farm near Hale school house until they removed to Shelbina some twelve years ago. The husband and seven children survive to mourn the loss of a devoted wife and mother. The children are Mrs. L. B. Davis, Mrs. Fannie Hehr. Misses Nan and Effie Hale, all of his city: Rev. Geo. L. Hale of Hannibal, Rev. L. M. Hale of Maryville, Mo, and Julius Hale of Shelbina. The remains were brought to this city and funeral services held Monday afternoon at the Baptist church, conducted by the Rev. G. W. Humphrey. Interment took place in Masonic cemetery. HALE Mary Jane Baker was born in Boone county, Ky., November 20, 1849 and was married at the home of her parents, northeast of Shelbyville, 47 years ago last December to L. S. Hale. To this union, ten children were born, seven of whom, with their father, are today mourning the loss of a devoted mother and loving wife. The children, who were all with their mother in her last illness, are Rev. Geo. L. Hale of Hannibal, Mrs, Chas. Hehr, Mrs. L. B. Davis, Misses Nannie and Effie, all of Shelbyville; Rev. Lewis M. Hale of Maryville and Julius E. of Shelbina. Mrs. Hale was for many years a member of the Baptist church and the fact that two of her sons became ministers of that denomination, speaks volumes for her devotion to and faith in her religion. Since their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Hale have always lived in Shelby county, residing until 12 years ago, 6 miles northwest of Shelbina and four years ago moved to their present residence northwest of town. Here, after an illness of several weeks, Mrs. Hale died on Saturday night. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at Shelbyville, Rev. O. W. Humphrey preaching the funeral discourse, and burial was at the I. O. O. F. cemetery there. near there. Shelbina Democrat (Shelbina, MO), 1916-02-09, Page 1, Column 6 Death of Mrs. L S. Hale. Mrs. L. S. Hale died very suddenly at her home one mile northwest of Shelbina Sunday morning about 4 o'clock. For several weeks she had been a sufferer of grip and pneumonia and was on the rapid way to recovery. Her children had returned to their homes, confident of her soon being well. Death was due to heart failure, and came as a shock to the family. Mary Jane Baker, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Baker, was born east of Shelbyville 67 years ago last November, and had spent all her life in Shelby county. She was a member of the Walkersville Baptist church for more than forty years and was a good christian woman and a most devoted wife and mother. Besides her husband she is survived by seven children: Rev. G. L. Hale, of Hannibal; Rev. L. M. Hale, of Maryville; Julius E. Hale, north of Shelbina; Mrs. Charles Hehr, Mrs. L. B. Davis, Misses Nannie and Effie, all of Shelbyville. She was also the mother of three other children who died while young. Four brothers and one sister also survive. They are: Ed Baker, H. M. Baker, Charley Baker and Mrs. Bettie Bethards, all of Shelbyville and vicinity. Funeral services were held at the Baptist church in Shelbyville Monday afternoon at 3:00 o'clock conducted by Rev. G.
