Mary was raised in Galt and graduated from Galt High School as Mary Jane Balliet. Soon after school, on April 7, 1947, she married James Willard McCrorey, also of Galt. Mary then moved to Reno, Nev., where she met Sam Voorhees and married on March 18, 1972. They left Nevada in 1996 to live in Grand View, Idaho where Sam died in October 2002. Surviving Mary are her son Eric and his wife Meline McCrorey, daughter Janice McCrorey Gould and husband Bob; five grandchildren, Matthew, Zachery and Megan McCrorey, John Dunithan and Heather Dunithan Holland; four great-grandchildren, Dillon and Hunter Dunithan, Kaydin Whatley and Irelynn Holland; brother Irv Balliet; five stepchildren, David, Calvin, Denise, Vance and Jerianne, six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Mary was loved and will be missed. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Sam, son Jed, four sisters, one brother and granddaughter Nicole. A celebration of her life will be held at her brother's home on March 19. Cremation was under the direction of Rost Funeral Home in Mountain Home. Obituaries for November 20, 2002 Sam Voorhees Oran Samuel Voorhees, age 75, of Grand View, Idaho died at his home on Oct. 19, 2002 after a lengthy illness. Better known as Sam, he was married to Mary Balliet, formerly of Galt, on March 18, 1972 in Reno, Nevada. They lived in the Reno-Sparks area for 25 years. In 1996, they moved to Grand View, Idaho where they retired. Memorial services for Sam were held at the Galt Cemetery on Nov. 16. He is survived by his wife, Mary, and five children, David of Reno, Calvin, Denise and Jerianne of Sacramento, and Vance (Cindy) of Dawsonville, Georgia; two stepchildren, Janice (Bob) Gould of Sparks, Nevada, and Eric (Melanie) McCorery of Myrtle Point, Oregon; 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by stepson Jed McCorery, Reno.
