Oskaloosa Independent, Friday, 30 December 1910 OBITUARY Mary Jane Bell was born in Holmes county, Ohio, April 7, 1829; was married Feb. 3, 1847, to James Peppard, who died in service Oct. 9th, 1863. She is survived by four daughters and two sons, also one brother, James Bell of Mansfield, Ohio. In 1892 she became the wife of Jonathan Lawrence of Congress, Ohio, and was again left a widow in 1896, since which time she has made her home in Exeter, Neb., and Oskaloosa, Kansas. She is survived by four daughters and two sons, also one brother, James Bell of Mansfield, Ohio. In 1892 she became the wife of Jonathan Lawrence of Congress, Ohio, and was again left a widow in 1896, since which time she has made her home in Exeter, Neb., and Oskaloosa, Kansas. Mrs. Lawrence had been a member of the Christian church nearly 50 years. The text and hymns were selected by her some time before her illness. She died December 8, 1910, at 1 o'clock, a.m. at the home of her daughter, Mrs. George Davis and funeral services were held at the Christian church Dec. 10, at 2 o'clock, conducted by Rev. Mr. Saunders, and interment followed at Pleasant View.
