Description	:	Mrs E Wantz, wife of E Wantz, and one of the pioneer settlers in Marshall county, died at the family home in Minerva township early Monday morning, September 19th, as the result of a stroke of apoplexy. Mrs Wantz had not been in good health for nearly a year, but her last sickness was of only about three months duration, and nearly a month ago she became entirely blind. Read More	Mrs E Wantz, wife of E Wantz, and one of the pioneer settlers in Marshall county, died at the family home in Minerva township early Monday morning, September 19th, as the result of a stroke of apoplexy. Mrs Wantz had not been in good health for nearly a year, but her last sickness was of only about three months duration, and nearly a month ago she became entirely blind. Mary Jane Bryant was born June 14, 1837, in Lewis county, Kentucky. When nine years of age she came with her parents, the late Mr and Mrs George Bryant, who were part of a colony of five families, and settled on a farm in Minerva township, where she has since resided almost continuously. In the days of her young womanhood Mrs Wantz was engaged as a school teacher in the neighborhood of her home until she was married uly 4, 1862 to E Wantz, the ceremony being performed by County Judge R Howe Taylor. During her infancy Mrs Wantz was baptized in the M.E. church and when thirteen years old was taken into full fellowship. Since coming here she united with the local church, wherein she retained her membership at the time of her death, and Rev E.V. Claypool, her pastor, conducted the funeral services in the Christian church at Clemons Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, the remains being buried in the cemetery at that place. To Mr and Mrs Wantz there were born seven children, four girls and three boys. One son and one daughter died in infancy. The surviving children, who mourn with their father, are Mrs Rosa Bryant, of Fort Collins, Colorado; Robert Wantz of Clemons; Sherman Wantz of Revere, Minnesota; Mrs Maud W Howell and Miss Mabel Wantz of this place, the later being twins. September 22, 1904 State Centre Enterprise.
