Description	:	Mary Jane Murphy, daughter of John and Minnie Cocklin Christian, was born April 22, 1898 on a farm near Griswold, Iowa and passed away Sunday, November 4, 1984, at the Uintah Care Center at the age of 85. As a young lady, Mary moved to a farm near Villisca, where she kept house for several years for her brother, George Christian. On November 19, 1922, she was married to Gene Murphy and their first home was established on a farm southeast of Villisca. To this union three children were born; Betty Jeanne, Shirley, and Deloris. Read More	Mary Jane Murphy, daughter of John and Minnie Cocklin Christian, was born April 22, 1898 on a farm near Griswold, Iowa and passed away Sunday, November 4, 1984, at the Uintah Care Center at the age of 85. As a young lady, Mary moved to a farm near Villisca, where she kept house for several years for her brother, George Christian. On November 19, 1922, she was married to Gene Murphy and their first home was established on a farm southeast of Villisca. To this union three children were born; Betty Jeanne, Shirley, and Deloris. The family lived on farms in Montgomery and Page Counties until moving to Villisca in 1944 where married resided until moving to Vernal, Utah in December 1983. Mrs. Murphy was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Charles Eugene on February 18, 1965, her eldest daughter, Betty Jeanne Mulkey, four sisters, Annie, Elizabeth, Esther, and Christina, and three brothers, George, John, and Fred. She is survived by her two daughters, Shirley and husband, Hal Molloy of Lake Tahoe, California, Deloris and husband Tom Goodman of Vernal, Utah, 6 grandchildren, two sisters, June Christian and Evelyn Hamlin, four sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews. Mrs. Murphy was an active member of the Villisca United Methodist Church for over 50 years. Funeral services were held Thursday, November 8, at 1:30 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Villisca, with the Rev. Steven Wainwright officiating. Organist was Martin Hentsch, with Robert White as soloist. Edith McAlpin was at the register with Velma Wheeler and Beverly Dicks as flower bearers. Pall bearers were Tom, David, Gordon, and Dale McAlpin, Bob Wheeler, and David Williams. Honorary bearers were Lee Means, Ed Weiner, Verlin Dicks, and Clyde Lewis. Burial was in the Villisca Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the United Methodist Church. Wolfe Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
