During the years of her failing health Mrs. Lindren bore her suffering with a patience and fortitude that were characteristic of her life. She had attained the age of 72 years and 10 months, and for 55 years had been a highly respected resident of this place, connunity and county. As Mary Jane Cline she was born on April 22, 1852 in Jay county, Indiana. In 1870 she came with others to Dodge county, locating first for a short time at North Bend, later removing to Fremont. She was united in marriage at Omaha on September 12, 1872, to Ola Lindgren, who survives her. After the marriage Fremont remained her home for about 7 years, after which the family moved to a farm about 12, miles northeast of Hooper. On this the family resided about three years when the old home place 9 miles northeast of town now occupied by the son, Charles, was secured by Mr. Lingren. This latter place remained her home until about nineteen years ago when she and Mr. Lindgen moved to Hooper and had since resided among us. During her residence in this community Mrs. Lindgren was known to our people for her devout Christian character and her devotion to every good and nobel cause, and when on Sunday morning the angel of death came to take her to her eternal reward she was ready to go and abided the final summons. She will be grealy missed by those near and dear to her as well as by a very large circle of friends, for she was a woman most highly esteemed by all. She was the mother of five children one dying in infancy. The surviving children, who, with the bereaved husband and father, now mourn the loss of a dearly devoted mother and wife, are Charles W., Francis J., and Nelson H., all of the Swaburg commnity northeast of Hooper, and Mrs. Joseph L. Ruppert of the Scribner vicinity. She is also survived by sixteen, grandchildren and one great- grandchild. The funeral was held yesterday afternoon with services at one o'clock at the late home and later at the Methodist church, the pastor, Rev. R. D. Winker, conducting them. Cline was born in Jay county, Ind., April 22, 1852. Her mother died when she was but 10 years old. There were five children in the family and three days after their mother's funeral they were separated and from that time Miss Mary made her own living. Her father served in the army and therefore could not be with his family. She came to Nebraska overland in wagons with the family for whom she worked. They located in North Bend where she lived a few months, she then went to Fremont and later to Valley. September 2, 1872 she was married to Ole Lindgren in Omaha. They lived in Fremont two years. They then purchased a farm nine miles north of Hooper where they resided until 8 ears ago when they purchased a home in the east of Hooper where they still reside. Mrs. Lindgren is the mother of five children, four of whom are living. They are Charles W., Francis, Mrs. Joe Rupert and Nels H. all of Hooper or vicinity.
