She was born December 27, 1926, in Presque Isle, the daughter of Ola and Zelia Carson* Cogswell. She was a graduate of the Fort Fairfield High School and a 1946 graduate of Bryant College. Russell, died December 9, 2003, at a Caribou healthcare facility, after a brief illness. She was born December 27, 1926, in Presque Isle, the daughter of Ola and Zelia Carson* Cogswell. She was a graduate of the Fort Fairfield High School and a 1946 graduate of Bryant College. She and Garth raised their two sons in Fort Fairfield, and moved to Caribou in 1974. She was employed at Maine Public Service for 22 years. Mary Jane was a member of the Gray Memorial United Methodist Church in Caribou. She was active in the United Methodist Women, Jenny Lyons Circle, and served on many church committees. She was a Past Matron of the Former Good Will Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star and was a member of the Lunar Chapter and Elizabeth Chapter at the time of her death. Mary Jane was also active in the Caribou Day Extension. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by a sister, Ruth Brown; a brother, Vaughn Cogswell Sr. Mrs. Russell is survived by two sons, Thomas Russell and his wife, Sonia, of Veazie, Peter Russell of Meredith, NH; a granddaughter, Kathryn Russell of Meredith, NH, a student at the University of New Hampshire; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted Saturday, December 13, 2003, at the Gray Memorial United Methodist Church, with the Rev Lynne Josselyn officiating. Spring interment was at Riverside Cemetery, Fort Fairfield. Those who wish may contribute in memory of Mrs. Russell to the Gray Memorial United Methodist Church, PO Box 69, Caribou, ME 04736.
