FIDDES Owing to the lack of space last week's Banner did not contain any reference to the death of Mrs. William Fiddes, West Broadway, who passed away on Wednesday, October 14th, at the ripe age of 78 years. The late Mrs. Fiddes, whose maiden name was Martha Jane Gillespie, was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Gillespie, early settlers in Amaranth township. She lived in Mono for a number of years after her marriage, but had been a resident of Orangeville for close to forty years. She was a faithful member of St. Mark's Church and in earlier years had taken an active interest in the work of the various church organizations. Besides her aged husband she is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Harry Shaw, who showed beautiful filial devotion in her care for her mother in her declining years. The funeral was held from her late residence to Greenwood cemetery, on Friday afternoon, Oct. 16th., Rev. J. W. McDonald conducting the services. The pallbearers were Messrs. Will, Chas. and Dalton Gillespie, Nelson and Stewart Hughson and Ed. Rennick.
