Description	:	ABILENE WEEKLEY REFLECTOR SEPTEMBER 29, 1934 Mrs. Samuel Reed Mary Jane Hartman, daughter of Sarah and Hugh Hartman, was born December 11, 1849, in Brookville, Indiana, and died September 9, 1934, at the age of 84 years, 8 months and 29 days. At the age of 12 years she became a member of the Methodist Church of Brookville. She was married to Samuel Reed on November 7, 1871, and on October 22, 1874, moved with him and one son to Abilene, to spend the rest of her life. Read More	ABILENE WEEKLEY REFLECTOR SEPTEMBER 29, 1934 Mrs. Samuel Reed Mary Jane Hartman, daughter of Sarah and Hugh Hartman, was born December 11, 1849, in Brookville, Indiana, and died September 9, 1934, at the age of 84 years, 8 months and 29 days. At the age of 12 years she became a member of the Methodist Church of Brookville. She was married to Samuel Reed on November 7, 1871, and on October 22, 1874, moved with him and one son to Abilene, to spend the rest of her life. Six children were born to this union of whom three, Zephiniah, John and Charles with the husband preceded her to the better home. "Aunt Jane" as she was affectionately known was well loved by relatives and friends. Always kind and thoughful of others, she retained this spirit through two years of failing health and two weeks of her last illness. Always patient and thinking most of the comfort and well being of her family, especially of the invalid son, Hugh whom she helped to care for as long as strength permitted. Besides her own family she raised an orphan granddaughter, Esther Reed. Two sons, Hugh and Robert, one daughter, Mrs. J. L. Shepard, three grandchildren, Mrs. Wilmer Hartman, Mrs. Ralph Heimerich and Esther Reed of the home, and one great grandson, Lyle George, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Heimerich, two sisters, Mrs. George Cregar of Abilene and Mrs. Cora Ernest of Brookville, Indiana, and other relatives and a host of friends are left to mourn the loss of a kind and loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and a true friend. Mrs. Reed was a loved and respected honorary member of the Pleasant Valley Club by whom she will be sadly missed.
