Reed, the son of Samuel and Mary Jane Hartman Reed, was born August 1, 1881 in Abilene, Kans., and passed away January 23, 1963 in Abilene, at age 81 years, 4 months and 22 days. A life long resident of Abilene he worked as a carpenter and also worked on various farms in the county. He was untied in marriage to Nancy Mauldin, November 29, 1905 and one daughter was born. Reed, the son of Samuel and Mary Jane Hartman Reed, was born August 1, 1881 in Abilene, Kans., and passed away January 23, 1963 in Abilene, at age 81 years, 4 months and 22 days. A life long resident of Abilene he worked as a carpenter and also worked on various farms in the county. He was untied in marriage to Nancy Mauldin, November 29, 1905 and one daughter was born. His wife preceded him in death in 1918. "Bob" as he was known to his many friends was a kind and congenial man, easy to befriend and a pleasure to be with. He leaves to mourn his passing; his daughter, Mrs. G. R. Heimerich of Denver, Colo; one grandson, Dr. L. G. Heimerich of Denver; one great granddaughter, nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. Funeral services were held January 26, 1963 at 2:00 P.M. at the Martin Funeral Home with Rev. W. Ross Thornton officiating. Music was furnished by Paul W. Brown who sang, "In The Garden" and "Beyond The Sunset." He was accompanied by Mrs. Walter Mustard at the Organ. Burial was in the Abilene Cemetery with Paul Whitehair, Max Fisher, Ray Britt, Ed Hocker, George Smith and Oscar Markley serving as pallbearers.
