The body was brought here for burial and funeral services will be held from the Methodist church tomorrow afternoon at two o'clock. Mrs. DeLong is Mrs. Will Hays' mothers. ======================== Edgar Post (Edgar, NE), Tuesday, March 6, 1917; pg. 1 Obituary Mary Jane Johnson was born at Bethel, Bath county (sic), Ky., August 3, 1847, and died at Halliday, N.D., February 26 (sic), 1917, aged 69 years, 6 months and 23 days. She was married to Truman R. DeLong at Murraysville, Ill., March 9, 1871. To this union were born three daughters: Adelia DeLong Hays of Edgar, Neb.; Josephine DeLong Ferebee of Halliday, N.D.; and Luella DeLong, who was taken in infancy. From Illinois with her family she came to Nuckolls county (sic), Neb., in 1877, where she lived until ten years ago when her husband and she removed to Halliday, N.D., her late home. At the age of fifteen Mrs. DeLong was converted and united with the Church of Christ and by her daily life has shown her unwavering faith in God. She united with the Evangelical church (sic) at Angus, Neb., in 1886, in which denomination her membership has since remained. During her last illness she showed the abundant fullness of a life of thoughtfulness for others and trust in God. In speaking of her departure from this life she said "The Lord's will be done" and expressed her faith in the reality of eternity in the following lines: "When we've been there ten thousand years, Bright shining as the sun, We've no less days to sing God's praise Than when we first begun." All honor and love to her memory from her husband, her daughters and their families and loyal friends among whom are numbered all who knew her. The funeral was held from the Methodist church (sic) in Edgar Sunday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock, Rev. S.B. Dillow of Hastings, a former pastor of the deceased, officiating. The hymns were sung by Miss Grace King, Mrs. Arthur Musick, Will Peters and Edgar Moore, with Miss Cecile Musick at the piano. Interment was made in the Edgar cemetery (sic). Her husband, T.R. DeLong, daughter, Mrs. Clifford Ferebee, with her two sons from Halliday, N.D., relatives from Lincoln and Belvidere and old friends from Angus were present at the funeral.
