OBITUARY- MARY JANE PIKE Mary Jane Novotney, daughter of Joseph and Annie Novotney, was born March 31, 1888, in Marshall County, Oketo, Kansas, where she grew up and spent her life time. She was called to her Heavenly home September 17, 1964, at the age of 78 years, 5 months and 17 days. She was united in marriage to Myrtis Pike December 2, 1908, at Marysville, Kan. Mrs. Pike is survived by three sons, Clyde of Wymore, Arthur, Home, Kan., and Archie of Beatrice; two daughters, Wilma Blocker of Home, Kan., and Thelma Browawell of Beatrice. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Darlene, and her husband, Myrtis, who passed away March 15, 1961. She is also survived by two sisters, Emma Husa and Elsie Fisher, both of Wymore. Two sisters and one brother preceded her in death. She leaves to mourn her passing 19 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends. She professed her faith in Christ and was baptized a member of the North Elm Christian Church. Since the death of her husband, Mrs. Pike maintained the family home by herself. She enjoyed having her family and friends visit with her and was never too busy to lend a helping hand whenever possible. She loved to spend her leisure hours walking in the yard where flowers always seemed to bloom in abundance. She enjoyed good health until she became ill a week ago ad was taken to the Mennonite Hospital in Beatrice where the Master reached for her hand. She will always be remembered as a kind loving mother, always thinking of others, a thoughtful grandmother, a good neighbor and friend. Funeral services were held September 20, 1964, at the Laughlin Funeral Home, Wymore. Rev. E. E. Powell officiated, with interment at the Liberty Cemetery. Mrs. Jesse Schmidt, accompanied by Mrs. Frank Zobokrtsky, sang "I Know Who Holds Tomorrow," "In The Garden" and "Sunrise." Pallbearers were grandsons, Jerry Pike, Ronald Pike, Melvin Pike, David Pike, Donald Blocker and Gary Brownawell. (Thanks goes to Researcher Barbara Schwartz for sending this obituary!)
