OBITUARY- MYRTIS ROY PIKE Myrtis Roy Pike, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Pike, was born October 19, 1888, in Marshall County, Kansas, where he grew up and spent his life-time. He passed from this earth March 25, 1961, at the age of 72 years, 5 months and 6 days. He was united in marriage to Mary Novotny on December 2, 1908. at Marysville, Kansas. Mr. Pike is survived by his wife, Mary; children, Clyde, Arthur, Wilma Blocker, Archie and Thelma Brownawell. One daughter, Darlene, preceded him in death March 17, 1942. He is also survived by his twin sister, Myrtle Welch, Cody, Wyoming, Inglebee Broullette, Hastings, Allie Fisher, Cedar Rapids, and brothers, Archie Pike and Allen Pike, both of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Two sisters and three brothers preceded him in death. He also leaves to mourn his passing 19 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends. Mr. Pike was in ailing health for the past three years and had to be hospitalized several times. Though those years, he had a pleasant smile and a sincere greeting for everyone. He enjoyed the many visits with those who called to see him,. His grandchildren were all very dear to him and held a special place in his heart. He was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather, and will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Funeral services were held March 28 at the Laughlin Funeral Home, Wymore, Nebr. The Rev. E. E. Powell officiated with interment at the Liberty Cemetery. Mrs. Jesse Schmidt, accompanied by Mr. William Owens, sang "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere" and "The Lord's Prayer." Pallbearers were gransons, Jerry Pike, Eldon Brownawell, Gary Brownawell, Leon Pike, Melvin Pike and Ronald Pike. (Thanks goes to Researcher Barbara Schwartz for sending this obituary.)
