Her funeral will be 4:00 PM Monday afternoon, March 30, 2009, in the Bonneau Pentecostal Holiness Church. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Cemetery. Directed by DIAL-MURRAY FUNERAL HOME, MONCKS CORNER. Mrs. Ballentine was born April 23, 1937, in Macedonia, SC, a daughter of Onie Mitchum and Daisy Martin Mitchum. She was a member of the Bonneau Pentecostal Holiness Church, and she enjoyed collecting porcelain dolls and loved humming birds and gardening. Mrs. Ballentine was the widow of John Leath and Dick Ballentine, and she was preceded in death by a daughter, Judy Hill, and a grandson, Perry Howard. Surviving are, five daughters, Mary "Shorty" Howard of St. Stephen, Jo Leath Brittle of Moncks Corner, Becky Leath Clenney of Bonneau, Kathy L. McCroan of Macedonia, and Chris Arrants of Goose Creek; three sons, John M. "Chubbie" Leath of St. Stephen, Sam L. Leath of Rogersville, TN, and Jim Leath of Pensacola, FL; two sisters, Ellie Scott of Bonneau and Ella Winn of Santee Circle; a brother, Harleston Mitchum of Alvin; twenty-four grandchildren; forty-two great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
