Read More	From the New London Journal, February 9, 1933-scrapbook Mary Jane Prier Willey Mary Jane Prier was born January 1, 1852, at New London, Iowa. She passed from this life February 6, 1933, aged eighty one years. She was the daughter of George and Mary Prier. On September 8, 1870, she was united in marriage to John W. Willey. To this union eight children were born: Loren of North Dakota; Lawrence of Hialeah, Florida; Mary Elizabeth Anderson(deceased); Joseph of Davenport; John R. of New London; Florence Lavinia(deceased); Effie Latitia Taylor of Burlington; and Edith Dell of Burlington. Her husband preceded her in death July 28, 1927. Mrs. Willey was baptized a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints, August 27, 1890 by Elder Fred Johnson. In this faith she lived a consistent Christian life unto the end. Religion was to her no mere form but it was the inner force by which she patterned her life. Active and faithful to the church which she has espoused she goes to her reward with the hope of a glorious resurrection. In 1888, she was deprived of the help and companionship of her husband. She bravely accepted the added burden of rearing and providing for the family alone. By industry and frugality she was successful in keeping her family together. Not alone the children but various nephew, nieces and grand-children have found shelter and a haven of rest in her home. In November 1910, she moved to Burlington, Iowa, which has since been her residence. There is left to mourn besides the above children, one sister, Mrs. William Booten of Chicago, Illinois; one brother, Allen Prier of Oleana, Illinois; thirty two grandchildren; thirty two great-grandchildren, numerous relatives and a host of friends. Funeral services were held from the Latter Day Saints Church in Burlington, February 8, 1933. Sermon by Elder F.T. Mussell. Interment in Brooks cemetery.
