Read More	Obituary Mary Jane, daughter of Frank and Candice Ricks, was born November 8, 1889, in Mercer County, Missouri. "Mamie" as she was lovingly called and known by family and friends, was united in marriage to Ray Marvin on December 25, 1910 at Davis City, Iowa. Four children were born to this union , they are Thelma Pierce of Des Moines, Iowa; Edna Stoneburner of Dallas, Oregon; Doris Dewees of Corning, Iowa; and Raymond Marvin of Richmond, California. She leaves to mourn her passing her husband Ray, four children, thirteen grandchildren, three sons-in-law, and one daughter-in-law. She also leaves an aged mother, Mrs. Candice Ricks of Davis City, one sister, Alice Claiborne of Shenandoah, Iowa. Six brothers, Ernest, Louis, and Wailes Ricks of Davis City; Millard and Carl of California; and Grant of Michigan. Her father having preceded her in death in 1940. Mamie gave her heart to the "Lord" in early womanhood and was baptized in 1912 and Christ added her to his church. She was faithful member of the congregations of the "Church of Christ" nearest her home, and her "Faith in her Master" was best exemplified by her unfailing devotion to the worship on Lord's Day, her service to her family, and her interest in their welfare. She will be greatly missed by her husband, family, relatives, and friends. Mamie graduated from the Davis City high school and then taught in the public schools in and around Davis City, and later in 1941 she taught in the school at Adel, Iowa. Mamie and Ray then moved to Des Moines, where they were living at the time of her passing. Her illness was of short duration, she suffered a heart attack on April 10th and was taken to the Lutheran hospital where she passed away in the early morning hours of April 10th. Such is a brief sketch of her life, to know her was to love her and her many acts of loyalty and love will never be forgotten. Truly her life was one of service. Funeral services were held at the Stewart Funeral Home in Leon on Thursday, April 22, 1954 with interment in the Leon Cemetery. *********************************************************** The recent bereavement which has visited our home has brought to us a greater appreciation of our friends.
