Read More	Lawrence Jacob Ricks, the second son of F. M. and Candace E, Ricks was born in Davis City, on the morning of July 4th, 1896, and died at the home of his parents, Wednesday evening, June 21, 1911, aged 14 years, 11 months and 17 days. Lawrence was a bright lad, a dutiful son, and in his classes at school he was studious, attentive to his studies, and seldom if ever failed to make his grades, and pass with his class to the next grade, although the work seemed to be harder for him than it was for some of his classmates. He was converted in the revival meetings held in Davis City, by Evangelist Walt Bryant, February and March, 1911 and united with the M. E. church. He was baptized with a class of forty-two, and was a faithful attendant at both church and Sunday school and at the Epworth League, taking an active part in the work of each. An honest conscientious boy, he was trusty and faithful in every duty and to every task devolving on him courteous to his teachers, his classmates and ail with whom he came in contact. Lawrence was well liked by everyone, and numbered his friends by his acquaintances. He possessed rare musical talent as a singer, and a voice singularly clear and sweef. He took part in an entertainment at the M. E. church a few weeks ago, his singing of the touching ballad "Just Plain Folks," bringing forth many words of commendation. About one year ago he suffered an acute attack of kidney trouble being ill for some time, but it was thought by his parents #nd physician that he had fully recovered. However, on June 14, he was taken ill with his former trouble, and grew rapidly worse, and on Saturday, the 17 th passed into an unconscious state, in which condition he remained, with the exception of one or two brief intervals of consciousness, until he died. All that kind friends and loving hands could do was done for him, but to no avail, and he has paid the last debt and has gone to his reward. Besides his father and mother he leaves six brothers and two sisters, and a host of friends to mourn his loss. The family have the heartfelt sympathy of the community. Funeral services were held at the M. E. church, Friday afternoon at 3 o'clock and conducted by the pastor, Rev. Geo. Wehn. Interment was made in the old cemetery. Members of Lawrence's Sunday School class acted as pall bearers. They were: Robt. Gates, Robt. Pickens, Will Davis, Ralph Bailey, Frank and Floyd Lindsey, Roy and Artist McCartney.—Davis City News.
