She was the daughter of Peter and Gladys (Maxwell) Ditchen. She passed away on December 29, 2013, at the Waverly Health Center, in Waverly after a brave battle with several health issues. She lived in Oregon until 1950 when her family moved back to Greene, Iowa. She went to the Coldwater Township Country School and graduated from Greene High School in 1959. On April 2, 1963, she married Carl Tidemanson at the First Presbyterian Church in Greene, Iowa. Carl and Mary lived west of Greene until his death on June 10, 2007. Mary worked in hospitals and care centers for over 50 years retiring after having heart surgery. Mary enjoyed getting together with her cousins. She was a good cook and brought cheerfulness to any group. Her hobbies were fishing, boating, crocheting, old classic movies and photography. Mary very much loved her dogs, Bandit, Cinnamon, Carmie, Conrad, and cat, Carlie. Mary enjoyed traveling. She went to Hawaii, Panama, Aruba, Alaska, Colorado, Oregon and New York City. She is survived by many cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Carl in 2007, her father in 1945, mother, Gladys in 1967, a brother Kenneth in 1995. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 7, at Retz Funeral Home, 519 N.
