Read More	Death of Julia Duggan Last Sunday the community was shocked when it was known that Julia Duggan had passed away at about 3 o'clock in the afternoon at her home. MIss Duggan had been in Ryan, caring for two of her aunts since her school closed last spring. She was not a robust girl and complained at times of not feeling well, but not until about two months ago did she give up. From that time, she grew steadily worse, remaining here in town for about four weeks, thinking that perhaps the change would prove more satisfactory, her parents returned her to her home, three and one half miles northwest of Ryan, where she passed away as stated above. Mary Julia Duggan was born December 18, 1885, a few miles from the home in which she died. Julia Duggan was a girl of remarkable energy and will power. She was a worker without an equal and well calculated to carry to a successful complication everything she undertook. She was a friend to every one, always ready and willing to do a kindness, and do it in such a way that the recipient was not aware of any sacrifice on her part. May the wonderful change she has experienced bring her a joy for every one of life's sorrows and a crown for all its crosses. She was one of Delaware county's most able teacher and her work was appreciated by parents and pupils. She was a kind and loving daughter and will be missed by her sorrowing mother, to whom she lent her willing hands in helping to care for a large family--eight boys and three girls, James, the oldest of the family, married, the rest at home. The funeral, which was held from the home, thence to St. Patrick's church here in Ryan, was the largest held in this community for years. The services were conducted at the church, of which she was a devoted member, by Father Malloy, assisted by his brother, Father Malloy of Mason City and three cousins of the deceased-- Father Behan of Charles City; Father McElliott, formerly of Waterloo; and Father Conry, of St. Joseph's college. The last named preached an impressive and instructive sermon, paying a glowing tribute to the virtues and worth of the deceased. The choir rendered beautiful music for the occasion. Mr. F. M. Foley sang "Face to Face" and Miss Worley, "The Rosary," in a pleasing way. The floral offerings were beautiful consisting of several pieces. The pall bearers were Messrs. Jas. Donahue, Cecil Brayton, Albert Duggan, Wm. Polkamp, John McElliott and Arthur McCusker. Manchester Democrat, Manchester, Iowa, December 11, 1912
