Description	:	Mary J. (Hille) Shelman, age 97, died Oct. 18,2011. She was born the fourth of seven children of Daniel and Matilda Hille on Jan, 26, 1914 on the family farm south of Ritzville. She lived most of her 97 years in that community. After graduation from Ritzville High School, she ventured to Spokane to attend the original Kinman Busniness University and graduated from there in 1932. (Hille) Shelman, age 97, died Oct. 18,2011. She was born the fourth of seven children of Daniel and Matilda Hille on Jan, 26, 1914 on the family farm south of Ritzville. She lived most of her 97 years in that community. After graduation from Ritzville High School, she ventured to Spokane to attend the original Kinman Busniness University and graduated from there in 1932. While working as a secretary in Spokane, she met the lover of her life, Estol Shelman. They were married at her family home near Ralston on April 23, 1936. After living in Spokane for a number of years, the moved back to Ritzville area in 1948 to farm and raise their family. They lived on the farm east of Raltson until 1975 when they retired and moved into town. They also spent time with their family at the Preist Lake cabin. It has been said she was always an active member of her community, taking part in the Ralston Grange activities, singing in the church choir, playing a mean had of bridge, bowling and raising beautiful roses. But the real joy in her life was taking care of her family, which she took great pride in. She is surived by a daughter, Sharon (Don) Beckley of Moses Lake; two sons, Glen (Claudia) Shelman and Greg Shelman (Margo) both of Spokane; a sister, Arliene Rothe of Ritzville; seven grandchildren and six-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was precedin deth by her husband of a62 years, Estol; her eldest son, Donal Shelmand and a grandson, Shane Shelman. Ritzville Journal Times Oct. 27, 2011
