Read More	Highland Recorder September 25, 1936 MONTEREY’S OLDEST CITIZEN HAS PASSED AWAY Mrs. Mary Katherine Fleisher, 86, wife of the late Cyrus T. Fleisher, died early Monday morning, September 21st, from a heart attack terminating from a paralytic stroke on the previous Thursday morning. Her niece, Mrs. Edwin T. Hevener, who lives nearby, had passed by her room, early the morning she was stricken, noticed she was asleep and covered. She went to the rear of the house to attend to some duties, and very soon returned to the room only to discover a heavy breathing and the bed covers thrown back. It was thought she had tried to get out bed but was unable to do & had fallen back unable to do so falling into unconsciousness from which she never rallied. She was a daughter of the late John and Hannah Harper Trimble, a grand daughter of Adam H. Trimble, and was born March 17, 1850. Both on the paternal and maternal side, she was directly linked to the first settlers of Highland county, Virginia and Pendleton county, West Virginia, to families of outstanding prominence. Since early girlhood she was a member of the Presbyterian. She was a charter member of the Monterey Presbyterian church, also of the Missionary Society, which emerged into The Woman’s Auxiliary, twenty-five years ago. In the year 1874 she was married to Cyrus T. Fleisher of this county, a successful cattle raiser and prominent churchman, who preceded her in death twenty-eight years ago. “Aunt Mary Kate” or “Mary Kate” as she was affectionately called by all to whom she endeared herself by her estimable character and genial manner was a very industrious woman. Even in her late years she manifested a keen interest in almost every activity connected with her home life. Her great energy was no doubt a factor in helping her attain the remarkable age of eighty-six. She was also a great reader and fluent conversationalist and had a remarkable gift for genealogical research work. The deceased is survived by an only sister, Mrs. Estelle Hevener of The University of Va. one nephew, Edwin' T. Hevener, Monterey; two nieces, Mrs. Emma Pierce, University, Miss Maude Trimble, Staunton; a number of grand nieces and grand nephews. Her brother the late Dr. Isaac H. Trimble, of Staunton, who died a few years ago, was only one year and one day older than his sister, and frequently they had celebrated their birthdays together.
