Evans Mary Subrina Kathern, daughter of Samuel and Sarah Rickard Watts, was born near Jasper, Pike county, Ohio, Feb. 27, 1855, and departed this life at her home in Pittsburg, Iowa, July 12, 1935 aged 80 years, 4 months and 15 days. At the age of nine years she came with her parents to Iowa where she has resided for 71 years. She was converted when young and has lived a Christian life since that time, although not able to attend church, her thoughts and conversation were quite spiritual. She had a kind disposition and was careful not to offend or grieve anyone. On January 12, 1876, she was united in marriage to Clark G. Evans. Mr. and Mrs. Evans have lived together 59 years and six months. To this union four sons were born, John W. of Pittsburg Iowa, Samuel P. of Milton, Iowa, George G. of Fairfield, Iowa, and Robert B., who died eleven years ago. She is survived by her husband and three sons, four brothers, 13 grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. Funeral services were held in Keosauqua with the Rev. J.C. Austin officiating. Interment was made in the Pittsburg cemetery.
