Fenlon, 98 Aug 20, 1917 - Feb 16, 2016 After graduating from Sioux City Central High School in 1934, Mary attended college at Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley, MA, for one year and then Mills College in Oakland, CA for one year. She then moved to New York City and obtained a job with Young and Rubicam advertising agency in Manhattan. While living in Manhattan, she wrote a column entitled “Iowa Girl in Gotham” which was published on a weekly basis in the Sioux City Tribune, a newspaper founded by her grandfather, John C. Kelly. During World War II, Mary returned to Sioux City and, in 1945, married James J. Fenlon. The family moved to Omaha in 1958 so her husband could manage KOOO radio station. She and James raised six children. Mary began selling real estate for Jenkins McCollister in 1973. After five years with Jenkins McCollister, Mary started selling real estate for CBS Real Estate, and in 1981 she received the Jim Boler Award from the agents at CBS. She sold real estate until her 85th birthday when she retired. She was preceded in death by her father, Eugene Kelly and mother, Mary “Molly” Lennon Kelly; brothers: John Kelly, Eugene Kelly, Arthur Lennon Kelly, Dr Anthony Kelly, and Fred Kelly; husband, James J. Fenlon; son, Michael J. Fenlon. Left to cherish her memory are 2 sons and 3 daughters and spouses, 6 grandchildren, a sister-in-law, many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. The family will receive friends 9:30-11 am Tuesday, Feb. 23rd,followed at 11 am by Mass of Christian Burial at St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church, Omaha, Nebraska. Private Interment, Calvary Cemetery.
