Description	:	Greene Genealogy: "The Greenes of Rhode Island, with historical records of English ancestry, 1534-1902;" He married (i), December 23, 1721, Katharine Greene of East Greenwich, and (2), November 4, 1724, Mary, "daughter of Henry Knowles of South Kingstown," who died May 17, 1744, in her forty-second year {Records Friends' Meeting, East Green- wich). He died October 10, 1757, in his fifty-sixth year. His will, dated September 9, 1754, proved October 18, 1757, mentions "wife Hannah"** (which would indicate a third marriage if the name is correctly copied) ; also " son David, daughters Mary Tillinghast, Patience and Waity, grandson David Hazard"... One record states that “Patience (Brayton) and Abbie (Kelton), daughters of David Greene, were Quaker preachers ” (see Friends’ Records). Their grandmother was a daughter of Ebenezer Slocum, prominent among the Quaker preachers. Hannah Watson, sister to Jeffrey Watson, below, and widow of William Clarke, married David Greene as his third wife. Jeffrey Watson's Diary: 18. I was at Brother Gardner's, and by Douglas's and Got my horse Shod, and from thence 10 Esquire Coggeshall' s for my wife . She had been to see David Green's Wife Buried , and from thence home. (May 1744) <--Mary Knowles The diary also speaks about David Greene and Mary Knowles' daughter Patience Greene as a Quaker preacher who spoke at some funerals attended by Jeffrey Watson. Although there may not be a marker, there is ample cause to logically deduce she is also buried in this cemetery. Many early Quaker burials did not use markers or only simple slate ones with no writing.
