Funeral Services for Mrs. Mary Otoupal at Bruno. Bruno, Jan. 24 - The funeral of Mrs. Otoupal was held on Tuesday, Jan. 18, from the J. B. Proskovec home in St. Anthony's church, Rev. Father Bauer, conducting the services. Interment was in the Bruno Catholic cemetery. The pall-bearers were Frank Chmelka, John Coufal, Frank Husak, Ludvik Koza, Edward Husak and Frank Mazanec. A large number of relatives and friends were in attendance at the funeral. Mrs. Otoupal's maiden name was Mary Koza. She was born at Hrotovice, Czecho-Slovakia, October 13, 1845, and died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J. H. Proskovec, on January 16, 1927, at the age of 81 years, three months and three days. She married John Otoupal in the old country and four of their nine children were born there. On November 5, 1878, the family came to the United States, where the father followed the occupation of farming. Mr. Otoupal died about 25 years ago and one son, Charles, about 15 years ago. During the past several years Mrs. Otoupal had been in feeble health and made her home with Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Proskovec. Previous to that she lived in her own home in Bruno, where she did dressmaking. In her prime Mrs. Otoupal was an expert seamstress and all the wedding gowns and "best" dresses of the ladies of a large territory were fashioned by her skillful fingers. Owning one of the first sewing machines in the community in pioneer days, she would be taken from home to home, with her sewing machine, to do the sewing for the family employing her. Mrs. Otoupal was a conscientious woman and never spared herself to helping with the welfare of her family. Her trials and tribulations were many, but her patience was great. She is survived by four children, Mrs. Mary Texel of Ross, N. Dak., Frank Otoupal of Bruno, Anton Otoupal of Ulysses, and Mrs. Anna Proskovec of Bruno. The sympathy of the community is extended to the bereaved. Coming to attend the funeral from elsewhere were Mr. and Mrs. Edward Texel of Ross, N. Dak., Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Otoupal and children from Ulysses, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Chmelka and Mrs. Ludvik Chmelka of Agnew, Mr. and Mrs. James Polak and John Chmelka of Plasi, and Mrs. A. R. Blatny and Anton Proskovec of Omaha.
