Bruno, Nov. 30 - Mrs. Joseph Husak, pioneer resident of Bruno locality, passed away Sunday, Nov. 27, at the home of her granddaughter, Mrs. Homer Maxson, and Mr. Maxson at Raymond, at the advanced age of 87 years and some months. Her death was from infirmities due to old age. The remains were taken to the Patterson & Knott funeral home in David City and on Tuesday morning funeral services were held from St. Anthony’s Catholic church, Bruno, at 9 o’clock, Rev. F. J. Kopecky celebrating requiem mass. The pallbearers were John Beckius, John Husak, Fritz Husak, William L. Kozisek, William Koza and Homer Maxson. Burial was in St. Anthony’s Catholic cemetery, by side of the grave of Mr. Husak, who died in 1937. Antonia Koza was Mrs. Husak’s maiden name. She was born in Moravia, Czechoslovakia, coming to Nebraska with her family as a young woman. The girls of the family being of age to file she and her two sisters filed on homestead claims in Butler county. She was married to Joseph Husak at Sts. Peter’s and Paul’s Catholic church, Abie, in 1880. Mr. and Mrs. Husak lived near Bruno until retiring from farm life and moving to Bruno many years ago. They were parents of two sons, Frank of David City and Edward who passed away last spring, and one daughter, Molly, Mrs. Paul Kriz, who also preceded her parents in death. There are six grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. One brother, Frank Koza of Bruno, is the sole surviving relative of her immediate family. Mrs. Husak always had much love and affection for her family and relatives, and her kindly nature gained her many friends. She reared her granddaughter, Mrs. Antoinette Kriz Maxson, from infancy when the child’s mother died, and in turn was tenderly and patiently cared for and aided in her last years by her granddaughter, who did everything possible to make her grandmother’s declining years comfortable and peaceful.
