Olin Belt officiated with burial in Greenwood Cemetery, Creighton. Pallbearers were Wes Eisenbeiss, Rex Risinger, John Beaudette, Dale Case, Donald Hart and Merlyn Hart. Mary L. Koenig, the daughter of William and Elizabeth (Dickey) von Rentzell, was born April 21, 1914 on a farm east of Center. She died Friday, Nov. 4, 1988 at Lundberg Memorial Hospital in Creighton at the age of 74 years, six months and 13 days. She resided in the Center area all her life. She attended Center Public School graduating from Center High School in 1932. She attended Wayne State College for one year and then taught rural schools for two years. She united in marriage to Frank Koenig on June 26, 1935 at Yankton, S.D. To this union two children were born, Marlene and Larry. Mary continued her education and taught school for 30 years in rural schools in Knox County, Center Public School and Verdigre Public School. Mary was a member of the Center United Church of Christ and a member of the Women's Fellowship. Survivors include her husband, Frank; daughter and son-in-law, Marlene and Milford Hart of Beemer; son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Deanna Koenig of Newman Grove; 11 grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; one sister, Bertha Doerr and sisters-in-law, Frieda von Rentzell, Oreilla von Rentzell, Annetta von Rentzel and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Earl and Eleanor Koenig. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Grace Beckman and Dorothy von Rentzell, seven brothers, Oscar, Fritz, Albert, Gus, Earl, Cecil and Walter and one grandson, David Hart.
