Read More	Mary Lee Getz June 7, 1931 - June 26, 2020 Mary Lee Getz, 89, of Fort Ashby, WV, was called home to be with the Lord on Friday, June 26, 2020 at Dawnview Nursing Home. Born on June 7, 1931 in Fort Ashby, WV (formerly known as Alaska), she was a daughter of the late Jacob Americus Anderson and Juanita Marie (Bosley) Anderson Simpson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Olie M. Getz., Sr.; three brothers, James, Joseph, and Paul; one sister Martha (died at 5yrs); two half-brothers, Harry and Stanton; and two half-sisters, Marjorie Judy and Hallie Starkey. Mary was a social butterfly. She loved to visit and be visited; loved sending and receiving cards and letters. She would talk to anyone who would talk to her for she knew no strangers. When traveling or just shopping, she was always meeting friends that she knew. Mary knew the lives of those she loved, she knew their children, their children children’s and so forth. She knew a lot about others because she was not afraid to ask questions. So, if you wanted to know how others were doing, you went and asked Mary! She was excited as a child at Christmas when traveling to new places. She learned how to quilt through her mother and would enjoy hours of quilting together. Flowers were another of her passions, especially Cacti (Christmas, Thanksgiving and Easter). She loved to bake her fruit cake and peanut butter chip cookies and then give it all away. She was a very generous person and would give her last penny if need be. She loved easily and did her best to not judge others. She was not perfect but she loved the Lord and did the best she knew how. Survivors include her children, Herbert M. Getz and wife Donna, Burlington, Olie N. Getz, Jr. and wife Sue, Waukegan, IL, Irene J. Willis and husband Barry, Channelview, TX, Wayne T. Getz and wife Carol, Capon Bridge, Rebecca E. Creswell, Cross Junction, VA, and Keith D. Getz and wife Cathy, Fort Ashby; one brother, John Anderson and wife Sandy, Cumberland; 19 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild; and, a half-sister, Dora Barnes. Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, Inc., Fort Ashby, on Wednesday from 6-8 PM and Thursday 10-11 AM. The service will be held on Thursday at 11 AM in the funeral home, with Pastor David Duckworth, officiating. Interment will be in Lahmansville Cemetery.
