Ruble Wheeler was born in Warren county, Indiana, on February 26, 1840, and passed away at her home in Lucas, Iowa, on Thursday, April 27th at 7 a.m. at the age of 82 years, 2 months and one day. She came to Liberty township with her sister in the year 1848 and has resided in Lucas county for the past 74 years. She was united in marriage to Wm. J. Wheeler on May 19, 1860. Eight children were born to this union, four of whom have passed away, namely, Mrs. Alice Waugh, Emma Krutsinger, James Wheeler, and Mrs. Belle Primm. Those surviving are Mrs. Etta Manley, of Lucas, Henry Wheeler, of Minnesota, and John Wheeler, of Humeston. Mr. Wheeler preceded his companion in death, having entered into rest on October 11, 1915. Thirteen years ago they moved from the farm into Lucas and Mrs. Wheeler united with the Church of Christ and remained a faithful member until her death. Funeral services were held at the M. E. church Saturday afternoon at 1 o'clock, conducted by the pastor, Rev. Wolf. Interment took place in the Fletcher cemetery. Mrs. Wheeler was of a lovable disposition and will be greatly missed in the community.
