Wheeler and Mary Lilius Ruble OBITUARY THE CHARITON LEADER Chariton, Iowa Tuesday, December 16, 1947 MRS. MARTHA R. MANLEY Mrs. Martha Rosetta Manley, daughter of William H. and Mary L. Wheeler, was born in Lucas county, Iowa, November 13, 1864, and passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John Brown, at Des Moines Thursday evening, Dec. 5, 1947, at the age of 83 years. Mrs. Manley spent most of her life in Lucas, only the past 8 years has she been spending her winters at Des Moines with her daughter. Mrs. Manley's death came very suddenly. She suffered an acute heart attack. She had been a member of the Christian Union church for years. Her surviving relatives are a daughter, Mrs. Alma Brown, two sons, Sherman Manley and Willard Fuller, and two granddaughters, Martha O. Manley and Mary Jo Fuller, all of Des Moines; and one brother, John Wheeler, of Red Oak, Iowa. Funeral services were held at the Presbyterian church at Lucas, Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Louis Prock, of Open Bible church of Des Moines. Burial was at the Fletcher cemetery north of Lucas. Lilly Brothers of Des Moines had charge of burial services. Music was provided by Mr. and Mrs. Albert Baker, Mrs. Bessie Robison and Mr. L. Hooker with Mrs. Les Ryun at the piano. Pallbearers were, Edwin Allen, Ray Polser, Donald Stark, Wendell Skinner, James Dixon and Wayne Hooker.
