Description	:	May was the first of five children born of Alexander Hamilton Reed (born 1835, died 1918) and Frances Letitia Lewis Reed (born 1842, died after 1900). Shortly after the 1881 birth and death of her brother George, her mother disappeared from their lives for unknown reasons, though Letitia was apparently living in 1900. May married Josiah Anderson Sunderland on January 26, 1887 in Atchison County, Kansas. It was reported that the Reeds and Sunderlands had been friends in Pennsylvania before westward migration. May married Josiah Anderson Sunderland on January 26, 1887 in Atchison County, Kansas. It was reported that the Reeds and Sunderlands had been friends in Pennsylvania before westward migration. Her father, Alex Reed, made the land run into what would become Garfield County, Oklahoma and moved the family there in the 1890s. Alex also eventually married Josiah's sister Jessie Amanda Sunderland Kollar Reed on December 24, 1902. In 1889, a tornado hit the farm of Josiah (Joe) and May and destroyed their belongings. They gathered whatever they could and relocated to the area of Blockhouse, near Goldendale, Washington. Part of the trip was by train and the remainder by wagon train. Around 1892, Joe had his leg crushed in a logging accident and he eventually had to have it amputated. About 1893, they sold their place and moved to Medical Lake, Washington. In 1910, the family relocated to Canada, settling in the Dewberry area by 1916, where they farmed. Despite the hardships of their life, they had a good life together. May passed away in 1926. Joe eventually moved back to Spokane, Washington and later married a family friend, Jennie Robinson Franklin in 1932. She died in 1942. Joe enjoyed his family until he passed away in 1952.
