Mary Lou Sinning was born at Lennox, SD, on October 13, 1929, the daughter of George and Henrietta (Osterloo) Sinning. She grew up here attending rural school, Bennett District #89 and graduated from Lennox High School in 1947. On March 24, 1950 she married Floyd Jacobs at the Lennox Ebenezer Presbyterian Church. Read More	Mary Lou Jacobs, 87, of Canton, SD, died Saturday, November 12, 2016 at the Canton Good Samaritan Center. Mary Lou Sinning was born at Lennox, SD, on October 13, 1929, the daughter of George and Henrietta (Osterloo) Sinning. She grew up here attending rural school, Bennett District #89 and graduated from Lennox High School in 1947. On March 24, 1950 she married Floyd Jacobs at the Lennox Ebenezer Presbyterian Church. The couple lived in Rapid City from 1951 until 1953, when the SD Air National Guard was deactivated. The couple returned to their farm near Lennox, retiring into Canton in 2003. Mary Lou worked in the food service department of the Lennox School District for over 25 years. Mary Lou had been an active member of LaValley Presbyterian Church where she taught Sunday School, Bible School and was the Sunday School Superintendent. After the LaValley property was sold, she transferred her membership to Faith Presbyterian Church in 1984, where she served as an Elder and Deacon. Floyd and Mary Lou enjoyed travel and took vacation trips to Hawaii, the Bahamas and the northern Caribbean. They also enjoyed camping locally with family and friends. Her death ended a marriage union of over 66 years. Besides her parents, Mary Lou was preceded in death by siblings: Jean Brantley, Lois Hyronimus, Jim Sinning and Gary Sinning. Grateful for having shared her life are her husband Floyd, children: David (Betty) Jacobs and Bonnie (Norm) Solem all of Canton; grandchildren: Janelle Podzimek, Mitchell (Shauna) Jacobs and Shelby Solem and four great-grandchildren: Sarah and Kaden Podzimek and Burken and Tenley Jacobs; sister-in-law, Jessie Sinning, Kokomo, IN as well as other relatives and a host of friends. Services will begin at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, November 17 at Faith Presbyterian Church, Lennox. Visitation also at Faith Presbyterian, will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday with the family present.
