On September 23, 1935, in Thurmont, Frederick County, Maryland, she married Wilbur Ross Freeze, son of John Henry and Clara Eliza Parrish Freeze. He was the founder of Cozy Restaurant & Inn, Thurmont. After his death in 1961, Mary took over the ownership of Cozy. She and Wilbur were the parents of one son: Gerald Gene Freeze. Mary passed away January 25, 1996, in Frederick, Frederick County, and was buried on the 29th in Blue Ridge Cemetery, Thurmont. Mary Louise Gehr Freeze Mrs. Mary Freeze, 80, died at the Frederick Memorial Hospital. She was the owner of the Cozy Restaurant and Inn at Thurmont. She was a member of Apples United Church of Christ, Thurmont. Mrs. Freeze graduated from Clear Spring High School. In 1934, she left her Washington County home, and began working at the Cozy Restaurant. At the Cozy, she met and married the owner, Wilbur Freeze, in 1935. She worked many long hours to expand the Cozy from a 12-seat lunch counter and tourist camp to a popular and nationally-known restaurant. Mrs. Freeze helped out as a waitress at the Cozy until the early 1970s, then worked at the cashier window and supervised the dining room. Surviving Son: Gerald "Jerry" G.
