On Tuesday she seemed in good health did a hard days work, ate a very hearty supper, went to bed between ten and eleven o'clock in the best of spirits. Between two and three in the morning she awakened and spoke to her husband, tell him she felt very well. At half past five when the family woke they found her dead in bed. Death had visited them during their slumbers and taken a loved one from their midst. Mrs. DeSotel was born near Montreal, Canada, March 2nd, 1847. Which place her parents left when she was one year old; going by steamboat to Chicago and from thence by railway to Rickerdsville, Dubuque county, Iowa, where she lived until her marriage to John M. DeSotel, Feb. 7th, 1864, since then she has lived in the vicinity of Millville. Seventeen children were born to them, eight daughter and nine sons. To them she was ever a loving, patient mother and a sunlight as well as a Christian light in their home. By her good deeds and example she will long be remembered not only by her immediate family, but by all with whom she came in contact. She leaves a husband, sixteen children and twenty grand children to mourn her loss. A large number of relatives and friends followed her remains to their final resting place to the Catholic cemetery at Holy Cross. Rev. Father McCartney performed the last sacred rites. A precious one from us is gone, A voice we loved is still. A place is vacant in our home, Which never can be filled. God in his wisdom has recalled, The boon his life has given. And though the body slumbers still, Her soul is safe in Heaven.
