Description	:	Funeral services for Mrs. Ben Weisbrod, 76, former well known Emmetsburg woman, who died Monday from a lingering illness while at the home of her son, John, at Trenton, Michigan were held at the Foy-Ellsworth Funeral home Thursday afternoon at 2 p.m. The Rev. E. F. Martin pastor of the First Methodist church, of which Mrs. Weisbrod was a member, officiated. Burial was in the Fenton cemetery. Mary Marguerite Braun daughter of John Braun and Mary Bollinger Braun was born in Zurich Switzerland on 24 September 1880. She came to New York City with her parents at the age of six. Mary's family had settled in Brooklyn; while the other four Bollinger sisters had married Weisbrod brothers making Mary's mother and Ben's mother sisters. Mary went to Fenton about 1908 to help her Aunt Verona. By 1910 she and Ben had fallen in love and wanted to be married. Iowa law forbids the marriage of first cousins, so the couple went to New York to be married. They were married in Brooklyn on 12 December 1910. They lived on a farm at Fenton for some time and later on their farm a short distance north of Emmetsburg. They were the parents of three sons Gordon Weisbrod of Redfield South Dakota, Paul Weisbrod of Woodward, Iowa and John Weisbrod of Trenton, Michigan. Survivors are her husband, three sons, five grandchildren and three sisters. The sisters are Mrs. Jessie Gross and Mrs. Rose Richenbach both of Brooklyn, New York and Mrs. Tessie Newel of Hartley, Iowa. Her parents, three brothers, John, William, and George and two sisters Minnie and Helen preceded her in death. Mrs. Weisbrod spent most of her married life in Iowa except for a few years spent in Idaho and New Jersey. In 1954 they retired from the farm and went to live with their son Gordon at Redfield, South Dakota.
