Mary Margaret Manning was born Oct. 22, 1925, on a farm north of Miller, to James William and Mable Anna (Rundel) Manning. They lived at various locations in Hand County. She attended grade school in Midland Township and Ree Heights. She graduated from Miller High School in 1944. On May 2, 1949, she married F. LaVerne Parmely at Miller. They lived on a farm near Vayland until August 1965 when they moved to their home in Miller. She worked at First National Bank in Miller from 1944 to 1949 and from 1954 to 1959. She also worked at Tri-State Insulation, the Hand County Treasurer's Office, Midwest Supply from 1966 to 1980, Scherr Ford and Mercury from 1981 to 1986, and South Dakota Job Service from 1987 to 1988. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Jerry (Dianne) Olson of Clark, and Mrs. David (Mary Lou) Hepper of Aberdeen; four brothers, John Manning of Big Stone City, Raymond Manning of Rapid City, William Manning of Isle, Minn., and Artie Manning of Miller; four sisters, Florence Danielson of Miller, Theresa Peck of Miller, Mrs. John (Ellen) Bawdon of Highmore, and Mrs. Shorty (Sally) Brock of Scottsdale, Ariz.; two granddaughters and three grandsons. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1979, and an infant son Gary, and three brothers: Leo Manning, Martin Manning and James Manning. Casketbearers will be Larry Bawdon, Bob Danielson, Terry Manning, Jeff Parmely, Neil Stevens and Jack Peck. Honorary casketbearers will be all her grandchildren.
