(Mannie) Nelson, a member of one of Somerset's oldest and most prominent families, died at the home of her nephew, Mr. B. Horace Ford, on Columbia avenue, Wednesday of last week, after an illness of several months. She had been making her home with her sister, Mrs. Rachel Ford, on Chesapeake Avenue, until a short time ago, when her condition became more serious and she was moved to her nephews home. The daughter of the late Benjamin and Nancy Nelson, she was 83 years of age. Cheerful of disposition, and with the happy faculty of making friends, she had many friends and acquaintances who, while they knew of her illness, were grieved when they learned of her death. Funeral services were held in St. Peters Methodist Church Friday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock, conducted by the pastor, Rev. Robert H. Wilson. Interment was in the family plot in St. Peters cemetery. Pallbearers were Norman, Freely, Merrill and Thomas Nelson, and B. Horace Ford, all of whom were her nephews. Many lovely floral pieces banked about her casket in the Ford home and in the church attested to the esteem in which she was held by relatives and friends. She is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Rachel Ford, Mrs. Susan Ward, and Mrs. Maggie Ward, and three brothers, John Nelson, Thomas Nelson and William Nelson.
