She was the fifth child born to the second marriage of George Washington Kocher (1790-1858) to Susannah Elizabeth First/Firster (1813-1876). Her siblings were George W., Christopher C., Susannah M. One source records the marriage of Maggie to Thomas Hamilton Burroughs as 29 Dec 1964. Their first son, James W. "Jim" was born 12 Oct 1865, in Mercer Co. Maggie and Tom moved to Canada, near Tom's parents, for a short time, and their second son, William Homer was born there 14 Dec 1866. By 1870, they had moved back to Mercer Co. and purchased a farm. Their third child, Saloma Viola was born in Jan 1871. Tom was an oil field worker by 1885. In the meantime, by the fall of 1881, their son, Jim, had followed an aunt and uncle(Emma and Leonard Keil) to Cloud Co, KS, and was working there. Maggie and the other two children followed him to KS by 1886, hoping that Tom would follow. In 1887, her brother (Wm. Gordon)and his family also moved to KS. Maggie's children married in 1887, 1888 and 1889. She divorced Tom in 1895, and returned to Mercer Co. to marry a former neighbor and widower, James Jacobs. They remained happily married until Maggie's death 12 Oct 1920. By that time, both of her sons were deceased and buried in the Burroughs family plot in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Maggie's daughter, Viola, had Maggie's body brought back and buried beside her sons, as "Margaret - Wife of T. H. Burroughs". When James Jacobs, her 2nd husband died, in 1922, he was buried beside his first wife in a cemetery in Mercer Co PA. Later, her sons' spouses and two grandsons would also be buried in the family plot. Across from them are the graves of her daughter, Viola, and her husband, Charles, and two of Viola's children. Her brother, Wm. Gordon, and some members of his family are also buried in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, and her sister, Emma Keil, and some members of her family are buried in the Bethel Cemetery in rural Cloud Co.
