Born February 11, 1915 in Westernport, she was the daughter of the late John R. and Rose (Louth) Welsh. Mrs. Ord retired as a librarian for the Westernport Library in 1983. She was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, Westernport, where she served as organist for over 60 years. She received an award from the Tri-Towns Chamber of Commerce for lifetime civic service, was a recipient of the Tri-Towns Community Service Award in 1969 and was recognized by the Piedmont Rotary Club for serving as their pianist at club meetings for over 50 years. The coordinator and leader of a USO tour during World War II, Mrs. Ord directed annual Christmas plays at St. Peter's Catholic School, as well as minstrels and operettas in the Tri-Towns for many years. She played the organ for a variety of area churches during her lifetime and received an award from the St. Peter's Alumni Association for her dedicated service to church and school. She is survived by her husband, George P. Ord, Sr.; two sons, George P. Ord Jr., West Palm Beach, Florida and Michael Ord, Vernon, Connecticut; three daughters, Mrs. Rose Mary Dougherty, Sunnyvale, California; Mrs. Judith Patrizzi, Vernon, Connecticut, and Miss Sarah Ord, Baltimpre; five brothers, Bernard P. Welsh, Westernport; Charles H. Welsh, Altamonte Springs, Florida; Edward F. Welsh, Greensburg, Pennsylvania; John L. Welsh, Augusta, Ga.; and Joseph P. Welsh, Bryan's Road; one sister, Elizabeth A. McIntyre, Cumberland, and seven grandchildren. Friends will be received at the Fredlock Funeral Home, Piedmont, Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The Rosary will be recited Tuesday at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 a.m. at St. Peter's Catholic Church by Father Paul Byrnes. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family requests that memorials take the form of contributions to St. Peter's Catholic School.
