She married the Rev. J. Ross Richey on June 21, 1942, in Kokomo; he died Sept. 14, 1991. Mary graduated from Howard Twp. School in 1936, graduated from Kokomo Jr. College in 1938 and from Manchester College in 1940 with a Bachelor of Science in education. Read More	Mary Marguerite Richey, 93, Goshen, died at 3:40 p.m. Monday, Dec. 5, 2011, at Greencroft Healthcare. Mary was born Nov. 25, 1918, in Clay Township, to John S. and Rosa Mae (Grau) Durr. She married the Rev. J. Ross Richey on June 21, 1942, in Kokomo; he died Sept. 14, 1991. Mary graduated from Howard Twp. School in 1936, graduated from Kokomo Jr. College in 1938 and from Manchester College in 1940 with a Bachelor of Science in education. She taught for more than 20 years and retired from Elkhart Community Schools in 1978. Mary was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Elkhart. She was also a member of the Indiana Teachers Association, American Council of the Blind, Elkhart County Retired Teachers Association, P.E.O., and she volunteered at Greencroft Community Center, Goshen. Mary is survived by a daughter, Marcia Ann (Charlie) Russell, Indianapolis; a son, Ronald W. (Julia) Richey, North Webster; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and a sister, Norma Jean (Charles) Spangler, Kokomo. She was preceded in death by her husband, J. Ross Richey, and two brothers, Wilford and Johnny Durr. Friends may call for two hours before the 11 a.m. service Thursday at The Meetinghouse at Greencroft. A graveside service will be 3:30 p.m. Thursday at Kokomo Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery, Kokomo. Memorials may be given to the Greencroft Foundation, The American Heart Association or the Faith Mission. Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
